Tommy Ray Gurley was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Mableton, Georgia. His parents Gordon Eugene and Lillie Mae Gurley came to Atlanta from Rome Georgia and had four children, Tommy being the youngest. Tommy inherited his musical talent from his mother, who, as a teenager, sang on the radio in Rome. After graduating from high school, Tommy ventured into the movie arena appearing in movies such as Robocop 3 and Love Potion #9, where Tommy played several different background roles. He also experimented with modeling ZCaverucci jeans for Fahrenheit modeling agency. While Tommy enjoyed the variety, he knew his true first love was singing. Tommy began his singing career with the help of a family friend. Billy Bob used to play the guitar while Tommy sang at family gatherings and local establishments. Tommy later entered talent contests as well as Elvis contests. He won first place in 26 out of 27 contests. Tommy’s not a stranger to traveling and has been welcomed from Canada to Nevada. Tommy has performed in Las Vegas for “Star Mania” where he also won 3 contests and went on to win the semi-finalist and became their spokesperson for one show. |
He has also been on numerous TV shows such as the Crook and Chase Show, and Country Night Life in Canton Ga. Tommy has performed at some widely known places such as Bigsby’s Hall of Fame, Hard Rock Café in Nashville and Atlanta, and the Buckboard in Marietta, Ga. He has performed in the Georgia Dome with Fox 97.1 oldies radio station opening for The Beach Boys, The Supremes and The Monkeys in Atlanta. Tommy was chosen to perform for the United States Postal Service in Nashville, Tennessee for the promotion of the Elvis Presley Stamp. Tommy’s natural singing voice is so similar to Elvis Presley that he has to substitute or change the words around to prove it’s his own, and for some real fun sing like cartoon characters. Since he is not trying to impersonate Elvis, Tommy does not dress like Elvis but innovates his own style in his singing and dancing. Tommy sings an array of music of various artists.

He’s bringing back the oldies with a twist singing gospel, country and 50’s and 60’s rock and roll. Tommy can be found performing at Fairs and Festivals with 50’s and 60’s rock and roll theme as well as playing for company parties and corporate events. Some well known corporate events include The Varsity in Atlanta, Harley Davidson, Wal-Mart Corporation, Special Olympics, Georgia Power Electric Co. and Winn Dixie Corp., just to name a few. Tommy’s career is family managed. All promotional videos, pictures, and CD’s are made and controlled by the Gurley’s. His bookings for future shows come from his web site information and spectators of his performances. Tommy also provides his own equipment, such as speakers, amps, microphones, lights, backdrop and sound technician. Tommy has a high energy/ magnetic appearance, and has captivated audiences all over the country with his charming presence. Even though Tommy does not have any formal voice training, he has developed great vocal control that enables him to hold on a note with an expanded range. Tommy may sound like Elvis, but he has his own unique style and a clear, soothing sound to his voice that makes it his own. What are his plans for his future in music?
